A rollover accident that occurred Willington led to the passing of a Central Connecticut State University student. A man from Bethel, who was 21 years old at the time, was driving northbound on River Road on Saturday night about 10:15 p.m. when he lost control of his car and caused it to roll over, according to the state police.
A passenger in the car, subsequently identified as Maria Damata, who was 19 years old and from Bethel, had injuries that were considered to be life-threatening as a result of the collision. The death of the woman was subsequently confirmed.
According to CCSU, Damata was a student at the institution and was heading toward earning her degree in marketing from the School of Business when she was killed.
On account of their injuries, the driver of the car as well as three other passengers in the vehicle were transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment.
The driver, a male passenger from Bethel who was 19 years old, a female passenger from Bethel who was 20 years old, and a male passenger from Bethel who was 21 years old all had minor injuries as a result of the collision, as reported by state police.
