Ongoing beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar
The ongoing rap battle between Canadian rapper Drake and American rapper Kendrick Lamar is referred to as the DrakeāKendrick Lamar feud. The disagreement became more heated in March of 2024, with the release of the song “Like That” by Future and Metro Boomin, which featured Lamar to perform.
In 2023, J. Cole proposed on the single “First Person Shooter” off Drake’s album For All the Dogs that he, Drake, and Lamar were the “Big Three” of hip hop, before claiming that he feels like Muhammad Ali, hinting that he regards himself as the greatest of the “Big Three.” The feud was revived in March 2024, when Lamar dissed Cole and Drake on the song “Like That,” dismissing the notion of a “Big Three.” Cole then retaliated to Lamar with the diss track “7 Minute Drill,” which he later apologized for and took down from streaming services.
Drake then released the tracks “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle” in April, with the latter including AI-generated vocals from Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg. “Taylor Made Freestyle” was later removed from social media when Shakur’s estate expressed their displeasure with the song and threatened Drake with legal action. In response, Lamar dropped the songs “Euphoria” on April 30 and “6:16 in LA” on May 3. Drake responded with “Family Matters” later that day, accusing Lamar of spousal abuse and claiming that one of Lamar’s children was fathered by David Free. Twenty minutes later, Lamar dropped “Meet the Grahams,” accusing Drake of being a sexual predator and having another secret child. Lamar subsequently released “Not Like Us” the next evening, and Drake responded with “The Heart Part 6” on May 5, disputing Lamar’s charges and saying his staff provided inaccurate information about the secret child.
